Current Admissions Procedure | Admissions Policy
The College welcomes applications from students who are, or expect to be, qualified to benefit from the curriculum we provide. In order to gain a place students must meet two sets of criteria;
i) Offer Requirements
In recent years the College has received substantially more applications than it has had places available. In this situation take into account the following factors when deciding to which students we can make offers:

  • The reference provided by the applicant's school or college; we pay particular attention to information on attendance, punctuality and attitude to study.
  • The predicted GCSE grades; we calculate a points score from the grades for English Language, Maths and the five best other subjects.
  • The applicant's school; when necessary, priority is given to applicants attending publicly-funded schools in the city of Leicester. This is done by requiring somewhat lower predicted GCSE grades from these applicants than from others in order to qualify for an offer.
ii) The Minimum Entry Requirements
These are based on the College's judgement of what a student needs to have achieved at GCSE in order to have a good chance of success on the courses we offer. They apply to all students who accept an offer of a place here:

  • To secure a place on an AS/A-level programme, students must have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, normally including English Language and representing atleast four different subjects.
  • For place on particular courses, applicants must also meet the specific entry requirements for those courses; these are set out in the College Prospectus and the course information sheets downloadable from the website or available on Open Day.
  • The entry requirements for the BTEC National Diploma in Sport (taught in collaboration with Regent College) will be confirmed in specific course literature when available.
quote background
'The transition between school and college was really easy as my support needs had been discussed with Additional Support before I joined. I have note takers in my lessons and a practical assistant in Photography. The note takers are second year students who have already taken the course, this has really helped me.'
